The term still life is derived from the Dutch word stilleven, meaning "immobile nature".  In the tradition of early 17 c. still lifes, my pieces are explorations or inquiries into the "true" nature of objects; that which is more than physical appearance. The melons I have chosen to portray are more than a metaphor for a single life,  hopefully they speak to a larger global structure, one of connections and cycles. A sacred geometry.
